How to import translations from a file?

There are various ways to import translations from a file.

Here you can find all supported formats.

In the control center

In the menu of the "Start to translate" card, you can find an "IMPORT FILE" entry.

In the global view

You will find the IMP (import) button next to the EXP (export) button.

Be sure to click the "save" button.
What does "Keep segments not imported" mean? Disabling that option, means that if the importing file does not include a key, that is already present in your project, it will delete it in locize.

To import a file for a dedicated language, be sure to select the appropriate language and namespace in the filter

To import an "all" format file (like csv or xlsx) for the whole project, be sure to not select any language or namespace in the filter

Here you can find more information about special formats like CSV and XLSX.
The "all" format at least includes also a namespace column, so this is a good format to export/import translations of multiple namespaces. Make sure the namespace exists before importing this format.

In the focus view

Also in the focus view you will find the IMP (import) button next to the EXP (export) button. Useful when importing additional translations in an existing namespace.

Be sure to click the "save" button.

The easiest way to import a file for a specific namespace in a specific language

1. Click on the focus view icon next to the namespace in the "Start to translate" section on your project overview page

If necessary make sure you choose the corresponding language and/or version before doing so.

2. Click on the IMP button

3. Click on "CHOOSE FILE" and select your file

4. Click on the appropriate file format

5. Click on "SAVE"
